Livermore Phantom Lacrosse Club takes player safety very seriously. All of our coaches receive First Aid training including CPR and AED operation. Additionally, we have a comprehensive two-tier concussion management program: ImPACT + King-Devick.
ImPACT Concussion Management
Developed by clinical experts who pioneered the field, ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) is the most-widely used and most scientifically validated computerized concussion evaluation system. ImPACT provides trained clinicians with neurocognitive assessment tools and services that have been medically accepted as state-of-the-art best practices -- as part of determining safe return to play decisions.
All players over age 10 will receive bi-annual ImPACT baseline testing. If a concussion is suspected, a second post-injury ImPACT test will be administered and the results analyzed by the ImPACT computer system. Parents will be provided with a detailed report that can be used by the family's health care provider to make an informed return to play decision.

The King-Devick Test is an easy-to-administer test which is given on the sidelines of sporting events to aid in the detection of concussions in athletes. The test can help coaches objectively determine whether players should be removed from games, thereby preventing the serious consequences of repetitive concussions resulting from an athlete returning to play after a head injury. The King-Devick test can be administered to players of all ages, thereby serving as an important compliment to ImPACT to ensure that all of our players can be evaluated.
